Ruijie RG-AP820-L(V3) - AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 indoor AP
Ruijie RG-AP820-L(V3) is a cost-effective entry-level wireless access point with dual-radio Wi-Fi 6 and dual-band design. It not only has the simplicity and flexibility for small and medium-sized businesses, but also the features, functionality and performance quality to scale up to large enterprise network deployments.
Supports a maximum wireless throughput of 2.97 Gbps when 160 MHz bandwidth is adopted in 5G radio mode (HE160). Fully compliant with Wi-Fi 6 features and ensures minimal signal interference.

Facing the increasing challenges of management efficiency and wireless security, all Ruijie enterprise APs support hybrid management mode. Whether deployed as standalone AP (Fat Mode) or managed AP (Fit Mode and Cloud Managed Mode), the AP will detect the operation mode automatically without additional effort in firmware upgrade. For additional security and operation functions, we recommend enterprise customers to choose one of the following options based on the required functionality and capacity:
Public cloud: Ruijie Networks' Icloud: the Ruijie public cloud service (with RG-MACC technology) is targeted at the SMB segment with integrated captive portal, authentication (such as PPSK for employees, Facebook, coupon, account, etc.) and reporting functions. Together with the Ruijie Cloud mobile app (free download), SMB customers can provision and manage their networks at their fingertips.
Hybrid cloud: RG-WS series wireless controller (on-premises) plus cloud management (optional): targeted at enterprise office, campus and hospitality customers with single or multiple sites and high-density access point deployments. Controller devices with cluster-based architecture are installed at customer sites with fully integrated wireless management and authentication capabilities, supporting large-scale access point management. Optionally, the cloud management platform enables value-added features such as centralized device configuration and monitoring, AI radio (RF) optimization, reporting, etc.
High-speed, energy-saving Wi-Fi 6
High-speed 1024-QAM access
RG-AP820-L(V3) adopts the dual-band dual-radio design. With the state-of-the-art 802.11ax for 5 GHz band, the maximum access rate can reach 2.4 Gbps. If the dual radio is enabled at the same time, the high-speed Wi-Fi throughput can reach 2.97 Gbps, providing a true high-speed experience.
High-density OFDMA user access
RG-AP820-L(V3) supports 802.11ax OFDMA, which divides the WLAN channel into a plurality of narrower sub-channels, with each user occupying one or more sub-channels. By scheduling multiple users to simultaneously receive and send packets through the AP, user competition and backhaul can be reduced, which reduces network latency and improves network efficiency. In a high-density deployment environment, the average rate per user increases four times compared to Wi-Fi 5 devices.
Spatial reuse with BSS Color
RG-AP820-L(V3) supports spatial reuse with 802.11ax Basic Service Set (BSS) color. It marks the BSSs of different WLANs in the network with different color identifiers (BSS color) and divides them into internal and external BSSs. The packet receive and send thresholds for the internal and external BSS are maintained separately. When receiving packets, the BSS color is retrieved to quickly identify packets from the external BSS. If the signal strength is below the receive threshold of the external BSS, the packet will be ignored. At the same time, the transmission of the internal BSS packet will not be affected. This technology improves channel reuse in a high-density scenario, which greatly reduces the impact of co-channel interference for the actual network deployment.
Wi-Fi 5 performance enhancement
RG-AP820-L(V3) provides a significant performance boost even in a Wi-Fi 5-only user device environment. This means that RG-AP820-L(V3) is not only future-proof, but can also provide an instant improvement over Wi-Fi 5 access points.
Energy saving for green and low-carbon network
Several energy-saving technologies have been used in RG-AP820-L (V3), such as single-antenna standby mode, dynamic MIMO, energy-saving enhanced automatic transmission and packet power control. With high-performance power circuit design, RG-AP820-L(V3) can save power while providing high-speed wireless access.
Industry-leading local forwarding technology
Employing industry-leading local forwarding technology, RG-AP820-L (V3) breaks the traffic bottleneck limitation of wireless controllers. In collaboration with the RG-WS series of wireless controllers, users can flexibly preconfigure the data forwarding mode for RG-AP820-L(V3). The AP also controls whether data will be forwarded through the wireless controller according to the user's SSID and VLAN, or sent directly to the wired network for data exchange.
Local forwarding technology can classify and forward time-sensitive data requiring real-time transmission over the wired network, to greatly alleviate traffic pressure on wireless controllers and meet the need for high-traffic transmission requirements of the 802.11ax standard network.
Abundant QoS policies
RG-AP820-L(V3) supports a wide variety of QoS policies. For example, it provides WLAN/AP/STA and Wi-Fi multimedia (WMM) based bandwidth constraints that define different priorities for different service data. RG-AP820-L(V3) realizes timely and quantitative audio/video streaming and ensures the smooth operation of multimedia applications.
With multicast-to-unicast technology, RG-AP820-L(V3) solves the problem of video delay due to packet loss or high latency and greatly improves the user experience of wireless network multicast video services.
Comprehensive security protection
Secure user access
RG-AP820-L(V3) supports a wide variety of authentication methods, such as web, 802.1X, PPSK (dynamic one-time password), coupon/access code, user account and social authentication (Ruijie Cloud required). By complying with the standard NAC, it provides a set of control policies in terms of authentication, authorization, device compliance verification and network attack detection/prevention, etc. All these features ensure high network security for authenticated users.
Pre-Shared Personal Pre-Shared Keys (PPSK)
Traditional pre-shared keys (PSK) shared by all users in a WLAN have a high risk of PSK leakage. Ruijie Personal PSK (PPSK) is an easy-to-configure wireless authentication method with enterprise-level security. Credentials can be created and revoked individually. Each PPSK can also be linked to a unique user/machine.
With PPSK, the benefits are:

Virtual AP technology
With virtual AP technology, RG-AP820-L(V3) supports up to 16 ESSIDs. The network administrator can separately encrypt and isolate VLANs or subnets of the same SSID, enabling a specific authentication mode and encryption mechanism for each SSID.

RG-AP820-L(V3) provides a web and command line interface (CLI) for the AP and wireless controller, suitable for application in different scenarios. The CLI design allows network professionals to perform quick troubleshooting and import/modify massive configurations.
