Carrier Class reliability
All Ruijie enterprise switches, including S2910, S5750 and above series, are integrated with the following 4 NeverDie technologies at no additional cost or license fee, providing supreme reliability for the enterprise campus environment.
First, XCor and XSurge are the hardware design principles to ensure stable operation even in operating environments with power instability, high humidity, dust and corrosion. In addition, NFPP technology is Ruijie's patented network protection for basic network DDoS protection. Finally, VSU, which is Ruijie's switching virtualization technology, allows up to 9 devices to be unified as a virtual unit, simplifying network management and shortening network convergence time through multi-link aggregation technology (MLAG).
Conformal coating + Anti-sulfur resistor protection
In environments with corrosive gases or high humidity, corrosion of electronics will accelerate, affecting reliability and shortening service life. However, access switch deployment environments are different. There may be lack of temperature and humidity regulations, close to the source of pollution or the sea. Through durability design, all Ruijie enterprise switches have applied conformal coating and anti-sulfur resistor design, resulting in excellent insulation and protection against moisture, dust, corrosion, corrosion and salt spray to improve environmental adaptability.
XSurge power protection
XSurge power protection is important to protect the critical communication system connected through the access switches. The surge protection provides lightning protection up to 6 kV for the power supply and lightning protection up to 8 kV for the communication port, ensuring a high quality power supply with operating temperature from 0°C to 50°C.
NFPP security protection
The Network Foundation Protection Policy (NFPP) is Ruijie's patented protection system to enhance the anti-attack capability of a switch. When a switch encounters malicious attacks, NFPP employs a series of countermeasures, such as rate limiting, identifying and isolating the source of the attack, to ensure normal control and management flows of the system, thus protecting the switch's computing and CPU channel resources.
VSU virtualization: Multi-chassis link aggregation
All RG-S2910XS-E / P models support Virtual Switch Unit (VSU) technology. It enables the interconnection of multiple physical devices and virtualizes them into a logical unit. The logical device uses a single IP address, Telnet process, command line interface (CLI) and allows automatic version verification and configuration. From the user's perspective, there is only one device to manage, yet the user can visualize the benefits offered by multiple devices. Therefore, work efficiency and user experience are greatly improved. VSU technology also offers multiple benefits below:
- Easy management: administrators can centrally manage all devices at the same time. It is no longer necessary to configure and manage switches one by one.
- Simplified typology: The VSU is considered as a switch in the network. By connecting the aggregation link and the peripheral network devices, the MSTP protocol is unnecessary as there is no Layer 2 loop network. All protocols operate as a single switch.
- Millisecond failover: the VSU and peripheral devices are connected through the aggregation link. In case of failure of any device or link, failover to another member link requires only 50 to 200 ms.
- 100% utilization for ALL uplink bandwidth: the network is hot-swappable. Any device leaving or joining the virtualized network has no impact on other devices.
All SFP+ and SFP ports of the RG-S2910XS-E/P series are backward compatible with lower-level modules. The 802.3af and 802.3at compliant PoE models offer dual modular power supplies, which support PoE+ on all downlink ports. With the various amounts of expansion slots, the RG-S2910XS-E/P series is scalable to various combinations of Gigabit copper and fiber ports for unmatched expansion flexibility.
Carrier Class Redundancy
802.1D, 802.1w and 802.1s Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) protocols ensure fast convergence and improve fault tolerance. They also maintain stable network operation and link load balancing. The function ensures optimal use of the network channel and improves the utilization of redundant links.
Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) is also available for network stability.
Another method of ensuring smooth network operation is the Rogue Location Discovery Protocol (RLDP). The technology quickly detects link disruption and unidirectionality of the fiber link. It also prevents loop failure caused by the connection of a hub or other devices to the port.
Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) (G.8032) implements loop blocking and link recovery at the master device. Other devices report link status directly to the master device. Without going through other standby devices, the failover time of loop break and recovery is therefore faster than STP. The ERSP link failover rate can be completed in milliseconds under ideal conditions.
With STP disabled, basic link redundancy can still be maintained through the Rapid Ethernet Uplink Protection Protocol (REUP). It enables even faster millisecond failover protection than STP.
Software-Defined Networking (SDN)
The RG-S2910XS-E switch series is fully compatible with OpenFlow 1.3. It can fully collaborate with Ruijie's patented SDN controller to form a large-scale Layer 2 framework with ease. The function ensures a smooth upgrade to SDN network. The RG-S2910XS-E series greatly simplifies network management and minimizes deployment costs.
Ruijie has made an unwavering research effort to solve the noise and power consumption problems of conventional switches. The new RG-S2910XS-E switch series offers a total solution to these problems, providing a quieter working environment and solving the intensive power usage caused by deploying a large number of devices.
The RG-S2910XS-E switches adopt next-generation hardware architecture with advanced power-saving circuit design and component selection. The switches offer 40%+ total power deduction to maximize cost savings. The noise pollution level is also significantly reduced. All models in the series deploy axial flow fans that support speed adjustment. The fans enable intelligent temperature control based on the current ambient temperature. The design fully ensures stable operation and minimizes power consumption and noise level at the same time.
In the PoE power supply environment, the RG-S2910XS-E switches offer automatic, power-saving and static mode to meet various deployment challenges.
Auto shutdown mode is another outstanding feature. When 4
an interface is idle for a certain period of time, the system will automatically shut down that interface for greater energy efficiency. The switch series also supports an EEE power saving feature. The system will automatically convert an inactive port into power saving mode. The system will regularly broadcast listening transmissions to the port. It will resume service upon receiving a new packet.
The RG-S2910XS-E switch series complies with RoHS standards adopted by the European Union on restricting the use of hazardous materials in the manufacturing process. The series also complies with SJ/T 11363/11364/11365 standards.
Simple and easy network maintenance
The RG-S2910XS-E switch series supports a variety of management, including central cloud management from small to large-scale remote sites.
Traditionally, Ruijie's enterprise switches provide command line interface (CLI) and web management, which are more suitable for single device or small campus management. For large-scale campuses, Ruijie offers 2 central management offerings:
